We offer training in a variety of disciplines, including Karate, Kickboxing, Aikido, and mixed martial arts for ages 4 to 65.In addition to this, WYMAC is proud to provide courses in pre-military training, circuit training, personal training and self-defence classes.
Our classes are designed to do more than get you in the best physical condition of your life; the study of martial arts has proven to help its students cultivate their minds and enhance spirituality to the highest level.
Who West Yorkshire Martial Arts College (WYMAC) are:
Based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WYMAC was originally opened by Team England member Mark Worth in March 2009. The College was originally open for three days a week, but this increased to six due to a rapidly expanding base membership, rising from 10 to over 80 members. This increase meant that only seven months after opening, WYMAC had to relocate to its current much larger premises.
WYMAC’s courses and facilities are said to be amongst the very best in the region and the centre prides itself on providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all ages and levels of experience.
Why Martial Arts?:
Martial arts have been taught for generations and are widely practised by people of all ages as a method of keeping fit and improving mental focus.
Benefits of martial arts include improved co-ordination, better breathing, enhanced cardiovascular function and developed muscle mass. The disciplined approach of martial arts is widely-known to help to control anger and aggression, channelling these feelings into positive outlets.
It is because of this, most martial artists not only have an enhanced state of confident and mental well-being, they often find that they feel refreshed and energised, as opposed to the tiring feeling associated with a lot of alternative workouts.
Why West Yorkshire Martial Arts College (WYMAC)?:
We provide a welcoming environment for all, welcoming members ranging from as young as four years old up to 65.
Our professional attitude allows us to gently build members into the kind of programme you are looking for, whether that is just to get you into better shape or improving your skills for competition. Likewise, we can also design schedules that are a little tougher for those that want a challenge.
Our instructors are of the highest calibre and are recognised figures within several martial arts disciplines. Mark Worth, founder of WYMAC is the Seven times British Champion, Three-time European Champion and 2006 World Champion.
At WYMAC we believe that we can provide everyone with a fitter, healthier outlook on life. Group sessions present a positive, motivating atmosphere where each student can help the other along in a collective, just like spotting your mate at the gym. Because of the structure of our classes, we often find our members find group training easier and a more enjoyable form of exercising.
